squareness

squareness >>   global values . .

"squareness" translated from English, means "rectangularity" but also "Honesty". The term provides a beautiful conceptual designation for a profound play on words related to the complex of human values. Since values are a universal and all-too-human concept, the sub-title "global values - global Werte" was created to underpin the meaning. The intention is for the viewer to be sensitized to the topic of human values through the different arrangement of squares of various colors. The colors of the squares are generated randomly. The profound effects of values in our daily interactions and behaviors ultimately highlight how much we are guided and controlled by our values. Upon closer examination, this topic seems to have inexhaustible potential for discussion and creativity. One thing is certain: among individual values, such as honesty, trust, power, love, etc., each person easily understands something slightly different despite many definitions and explanations. squareness >> addresses this central point and aims to express it through the same arrangement of squares with individual coloring of each square. The consistent arrangement of squares forms the overall pattern, representing the value as an entity. Only the colors of the squares change randomly for each work, symbolizing and emphasizing the individual interpretation of the value by each person. Therefore, no two squareness works are the same, even though the overall pattern - the VALUE - remains the same. The tension: the individual within the uniform. It is also intended to promote tolerance for the interpretation of values by other people. No one can seriously claim the final interpretation (interpretation authority) of a value - it does not exist. Understandably, this leads to the formation of groups with like-minded values -> of all kinds -> worldwide. This phenomenon has taken on huge dimensions, not least because of the large global population of over 7.5 billion people. This suggests that values are evidently a very important field of study and it is worthwhile to incorporate them more intensively into contemporary art. As always, much remains unsaid and is left to the interpretation of the viewer. If inspiration and new ideas result from this, the goal is more than achieved. And, of course, the squares should ultimately be pleasing as well..."
